A career shaped by
people and place.

I am a Professor in the Department of Sociology at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in Sylhet, Bangladesh. My academic interests include migration and development, immigrant integration, mental health, social inequality, race and ethnicity.

My research examines the social conditions behind individual experiences: how people move and settle, how social support relates to wellbeing, and how opportunity is distributed within communities.

Alongside teaching at SUST, my academic experience includes instruction at Dalhousie University and Saint Mary’s University, and research and teaching assistantships at the University of Manitoba. I teach both substantive sociology and quantitative research methods.
